Communication Equipment - GMDSS Simulator  Simulation

ARI GMDSS Simulator is very comprehensive and realistic simulator containing entire range of simulated communication equipment including VHF, HF, MF, SAT C and SAT A Equipment to SART, EPIRB and NAVTEX. All equipment accurately replicate the functionality and operations of the real equipment as existing on-board.

The system has capability and functionality to successfully conduct GMDSS GOC Course as per IMO Model Course 1.25. It fully complies with IMO resolution A.703(17) and the latest STCW code recommendations. The ARI GMDSS Simulator is designed to meet global needs for a cost-effective and user-friendly training system. Trainees can familiarize themselves with and exhaustively use equipment normally found on a GMDSS compliant vessel.

Up to 12 student stations can be connected to the system and operated simultaneously in real-time. Students can be trained on communication and SAR aspects of a distress situation in keeping with required procedures and protocols. Instructor-to-trainee and trainee-to-trainee communication is supported, enabling trainees to act as ship / shore stations.

ARI has successfully provided complete turnkey solution for GMDSS Simulators to various training institutes and defence establishments. These services covers the entire spectrum from supplying Hardware, Software, Actual Marine Communication Equipment, Marine Publications to Total installation of project equipment and consultancy for development of training modules.

  Components

ARI GMDSS Simulator contains the following simulated equipment available to each or selected workstations. All simulated equipment are backed up by unmatched visualization and mathematical modeling to give exact look and functionality of the real equipment.

  • VHF Transreceiver with DSC
  • MF/HF Transreceiver with DSC
  • Radio Telex and NBDP Equipment
  • Two way Portable VHF (GMDSS)
  • INMARSAT C
  • INMARSAT A
  • NAVTEX Receiver
  • EPIRB
  • SART
  • Marine Radar with maneuvering controls
  • AIS
  • Alarm Panels
  • Trainee Work Stations with individual headsets and handsets
  • Instructor Station for planning, execution and monitoring

Features

Voice Communication

No Hardware is required for voice communication in ARI GMDSS Simulator. The computer network itself is used for voice communication resulting in a cost effective installation.

Instructor Station
Instructor Station functions as a control unit of various systems with functions of creating, editing, starting and monitoring an exercise. The instructor can simulate as multi role capacity as Coast Station, Ship Station or Shore Subscriber. A number of selectable charts, exercise maps and data on coast radio stations are included in software thus enabling the instructor to pick the appropriate training area for the initial location of the student ships and the coast radio station. Instructor also has the capability to assign Vessel Name, Call Sign, Communication Equipment and Equipment ID to each workstation.

Trainee Station
Trainee station consists of all the GMDSS communication equipment and terminals. The capabilities and limitations of individual equipment have been modeled realistically so that student interaction is exactly same as with a real equipment leading to deeper understanding of the operations and procedures.

SAR Exercise
GMDSS Simulator have a wide ranging application to simulate and conduct a real like Search And Rescue (SAR) Exercise. Trainee Workstation can activate their EPIRB and RCC receives the signal. SARTs can also be activated and SART echo can be seen on RADAR of the vessels within the range. Moreover each workstation has a unique DSC, SAT A and SAT C Terminal Identity thus replicating a real two way or multiple communication during SAR Exercise.
