ARI has been instrumental in developing Ship Handling, GMDSS and RADAR / ARPA Simulators for various Naval Defence Establishments in India. ARI's growing list of clients includes Ports & terminal Operators, Training Institutes, Ship Owners and Ship Managers, Government Agencies, Defence Establishments and Automobile Companies.
ARI has over 75 simulator installations, ranging from PC based Desktop to Full Mission Simulation Solutions, in India and in countries like Croatia, Greece, Romania, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. ARI simulators were awarded the Seatrade Dubai International Maritime Award 2005 in prestigious ‘Innovation in Shipping’ category. ARI was also awarded the Lloyd’s List Award 2005 for its outstanding performance and contribution to ‘Maritime Training & Development’.
The exponential growth witnessed in the container traffic and reduced turnaround time of ships has made training of cargo handling personnel extremely important. A Simulator based training environment provides the optimal solution for training operators across a range of container handling cranes including Ship Gantry, Quay Crane, Rubber Tyre Gantry, Rail Mounted Gantry, Pedestal Crane and other customized cranes. ARI Crane Simulators help propagate safe and efficient crane handling techniques and assist in improving crane handling skills, reducing crane downtime, increasing time efficiency and saving costs.
The simulation environment plays an important role in improving quay and yard performance as it introduces trainees to the operation of cargo handling equipment:
• Trainees are exposed to a wide variety of learning experiences that can not be easily replicated during on-the-job training.
• Trainee can be trained any time / any day irrespective of weather and port schedule.
• Trainees can develop basic operating skills prior to arriving at the work site.
• On-the-job training time required to bring the trainee up to production standard is significantly reduced.
• The trainee operates in a controlled environment, eliminating any chance of damage to vital equipment or risk to personnel.
ARI has installed five Advanced Crane Simulators for P & O Ports at their terminal facilities in South Asia namely Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai, Karachi and Colombo. ARI is also in the process of supplying two Advanced Crane Simulators for a reputed longshoreman training facility in North America. These installation orders were bagged by ARI after stiff international competition and stringent quality and performance parameters.
The ARI Advanced Crane Simulator is a solution which replicates the physical characteristics of nearly all types of cranes used in the container transportation industry. The Simulator is a powerful training tool addressing the training needs in all essential aspects of safety and efficiency of container cargo handling equipment operations. It is highly versatile and can be customized to replicate any crane model and terminal environment.
ARI’s integrated Simulation Platform for Integrated Port and Terminal Operations replicates the physical environment of the entire yard and the action of all the role players in the Container Operations can be simulated. This customized offering provides a complete training solution for entire range of equipment in a port terminal from Quay Crane, Truck Trailer, Rubber Tyre Gantry, Reach Stacker, Rail Mounted Gantry and Wagons etc.
Apart from displaying its products at the exhibition, ARI’s MD Shravan Rewari will be addressing the conference on “ Role of simulation technology in improving Quay and Yard Performance”.
