ARI wins Lloyd’s List Award for Maritime Training and Development |

For its outstanding performance and contribution to Maritime Training and Development, ARI received the Inaugural Lloyd’s List Middle East-Indian Subcontinent Award 2005.
The Lloyd’s List Middle East-Indian Subcontinent Awards Ceremony was held on 16th November 2005 in the glittering surroundings of the Godolphin Ballroom in Dubai’s Emirates Towers Hotel. Some 400 maritime industry leaders, including guest of honour Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and the master of ceremonies, former Indian cricket star Ravi Shastri, gathered to felicitate and honour the leaders in field of various maritime categories.

These maritime categories included Personality of the Year, Shiprepair/Shipyard, Port Authority, Marine Insurance, Ship Manager, Shipowner/Ship Operator, Container Terminal Operator, Tanker Operator, Bulk Operator, Trade Finance, Classification Society, Shipping Agent, Energy: Oil and Gas, Transport: Logistics, Freight and Maritime Training and Development.
Leader in each category had been decided by an independent group of judges, leading luminaries representing all sectors of the maritime business.
The award for Maritime Training and Development was won by Applied Research International recognizing the exceptional commitment and contribution of ARI to this all-important area. ARI was presented the award by Major General (Rtd.) Sharafuddin Sharaf , Vice Chairman, Sharaf Group.
Noted among other recipient of awards in other categories were Dubai Dry-docks for the Shipyard-Ship repair category , the classification award went to Det Norske Veritas. GAC Logistics beat off the combined challenge of Seven Seas Shipchandlers and Ceyline Shipping to land the transport, logistics and freight prize , and the energy, gas and oil award went to Lamprell Energy.
Mr. JAMAL Majid Bin Thaniah, one of the leading figures in the global port industry and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Ports Authority, was adjudged the Personality of the Year .
ARI Group’s MD Shravan Rewari was present at the awards ceremony in Dubai and said “Besides contributing to the larger cause of promoting maritime education and training, ARI is doing ground breaking work in leveraging the technology to empower the maritime education and training. This award vindicates our commitment to setting new benchmarks in maritime education coupled with latest simulation technologies.”
