UNIVAN Ship Management chooses to install ARI Full Mission Engine and Full Mission Bridge simulators

UNIVAN Ship Management has recently finalized an order from ARI, a New Delhi based manufacturer of advanced simulation solutions, for Full Mission Ship Handling and Full Mission Engine Room simulators. Both simulators will be deployed at a new UNIVAN training and simulation facility in Mumbai.

The UNIVAN training center caters to the training requirements of UNIVAN and its clients worldwide. It is being equipped with the latest equipment including ARI’s Full Mission Navigation and Engine simulators.Speaking on the new training facility, Captain Vanderperre said “One of UNIVAN’s primary objectives is to provide ship owners and operators with cost effective ship management with unparalleled standards of quality and safety. The new training center is another step in this direction and will help us maintain one of the best-trained and competent crew in the Ship management arena.”

Commenting on the choice of ARI Simulators, a UNIVAN spokesperson said “After evaluating proposals from major simulator manufacturers, we chose ARI not just for the quality of their simulators, but also because of their quick response times, flexibly designed solutions, and the scope for extensive customizations. By leveraging their training experience in combination with technology expertise, ARI was able to provide us unmatchable value”. The ARI offering includes a long-term maintenance contract.

The ARI Full Mission Ship Maneuvering simulator (FMSMS) creates an immersive shipboard environment that allows cost effective, safe and meaningful training possible. Its underlying math and physics models accurately reproduce the behavior of various ship types. An immersive visual environment is enabled by “First Illusion”, ARI’s recently announced 3-D visualization platform that renders high fidelity worlds in real-time. All standard shipboard equipment including Radars, ECDIS, Steering, Navigation systems etc. are simulated and maneuvering, engine controls, thrusters, communication equipment and other hardware are included.

The ARI Full Mission Engine Room Simulator (FMERS) is a world-class solution that enables a realistic and accurate simulation of the functioning of large Engine systems with Main Engine Controls, Switch Boards and simulated machinery spaces. It enables software and/or hardware control functionality, and all elements are interlinked so that a typical cascading effect caused by a fault is felt across other parts of the system.
