Fleet Management Ltd. awards ARI contract for installation of Multiple Simulators

Fleet Management Limited (FML) has decided in favor of ARI to supply its advanced training simulators for the Fleet Management Training Institute in Mumbai, India. The decision was made after an intensively scrutinizing the offerings of key simulator manufacturers from across the world. The contract awarded to ARI is for the supply of a Full Mission Ship Maneuvering simulator, a Full Mission Engine Room simulator, Liquid Cargo-Handling simulator and a customized Reefer simulator.

According to FML’s MD, Mr. Kishore Rajvanshy “One of the main reasons why we selected ARI is the wide spectrum of quality simulation and training solutions they offer. ARI simulators are also particularly well suited to our training goals, and using them we will be able to offer valuable training to all ranks of FML personnel. FML’s utilization of ARI’s superior products will provide training options rivaling those offered anywhere in the world.”

ARI will equip the Fleet Management Training Institute with a range of simulation equipment including a Full Mission Ship Maneuvering Simulator, Full Mission Engine Room Simulator, Liquid Cargo Handling simulator, Reefer simulator, and Engine maneuvering and Hydraulic trainers. Additionally, value added services provided by ARI include ‘Train the Trainer’ programs for FML instructors, and a long-term maintenance contract.

The ARI Full Mission Ship Maneuvering Simulator, with a 180-degree field of view, comprises an ECDIS, Radar, Steering, Conning, Instructor, Communication and Alarms, Navigation aids (GPS, Doppler, Echo Sounder etc.), Sound systems and Visualization channels. The visual environment will be powered by ‘First Illusion’, ARI’s recently announced 3-D visualization platform that renders high fidelity worlds in real-time. The simulator will be equipped with a variety of resources including own-ship models, sailing areas and traffic ship models, besides allowing future customizations and the addition of resources as required.

The ARI Full Mission Engine Room Simulator is a world-class solution that comprises a Main Engine Control room, Main switchboard, simulated Machinery space, Mimic pipeline panel, Local operating panel and an Instructor station. It enables software and/or hardware control functionality, and all elements are interlinked so that realistic cascading effects caused by a fault are felt across other parts of the system.

Besides the Full Mission simulators, the FML training center will be equipped with a software version of the cutting edge ARI Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator (LCHS). The LCHS is one of the latest simulators to emerge from the ARI stable and incorporates sophisticated math models that enable real time simulation of process flow control systems used in the storage and transfer of potentially hazardous bulk liquids between ship and shore. Using the advanced graphics capabilities of ARI’s ‘First Illusion’ visualization platform, it offers users a unique photo realistic environment that brings the actual shipboard environment to life, making training more realistic and efficient than ever before.

Additionally, ARI will be delivering a custom-made Reefer cargo-handling simulator to FML, which will allow complete training on handling of sensitive cargoes on Reefer ships.

Hong Kong based Fleet Management Limited (a member of the Noble Group, a well established company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange) provides a comprehensive range of ship management services to cargo ship owners worldwide. FML is currently responsible for full technical management of about 80 modern ships. FML’s commitment to safety, pollution prevention and high standards of on board maintenance is upheld by the extensive experience and capability of its personnel. The Mumbai center, catering to the training needs of all FML personnel worldwide, is another demonstration of this commitment.
