ARI continues cooperating with P&O Ports through multiple Advanced Gantry Crane Simulator Installations

In a significant development for the Marine Technology in India Applied Research International (ARI) , a New Delhi based Marine simulation and software development organisation has carried out multiple installations of its Advanced Gantry Crane Simulators for P& O Ports U.K . Over last few months ARI has developed, installed and commissioned Advanced Gantry Crane Simulators training facilities at P&O ports facilities in Chennai, and Mundra. ARI has also bagged the contracts for supply and installation of its Crane simulator suite for P&O ports container terminals at Karachi and Colombo.

The order for supply and installation of Crane simulators was secured after the successful commissioning of Advanced Gantry Crane Simulator developed and installed by ARI at P&O ports owned Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal at Nhava Sheva near Mumbai India.

The simulator systems being installed at various facilities of P& O ports in south Asia is the latest offering from ARI, one of the leading Marine Simulation Company.

The ARI Advanced Gantry Crane Simulator is a powerful training tool addressing the training needs in all essential aspects of safety and efficiency of crane operations. It is highly versatile and can be customised to replicate any crane model and terminal environment. The suite to be installed will simulate operations of a Quay Side Gantry for wharf operations, a Rubber Tyre Gantry for container yard operations, and a Rail Mounted Gantry for inland container depot operations.

The simulator has been created using some of the most advanced technologies available to provide a “real”, life-like environment for training.  This life like environment for training is possible through ARI’s sophisticated graphics modelling of all objects like the yard, wharfs, cranes, trucks, vessels etc.
The simulator allows creation of various conditions including weather effects, equipment failures and malfunctions, obstacles, etc.  High fidelity audio systems provide stereoscopic surround sound effects of motors, collisions, alarms, radio communication, wind, and environment.  The simulator rests on a sensitive 3-axis motion platform, which recreates all the physical sensations crane operators experience.  This combination of high visual detail, sound cues, motion cues, and man machine interface creates an unmatched immersive environment.

The skills and competence of gantry crane operators is a highly critical factor in safe and efficient operations of a container terminal. The ARI Advanced Gantry Crane Simulator provides a comprehensive training environment in safe conditions to train and improve the skills of these operators. The simulator capabilities allow continuous monitoring and assessment of trainee performance, which is used for learning and improvement.
