Leveraging on our IT experience and deep domain expertise, we at ARI have been involved in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a robust IT e-Governance project ‘ e Jahaz ' for Mercantile Marine Department, Mumbai and e Governance project ‘ e Samudra ' for Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India. This project is of specific benefit to Seafarers, Ship-Owners, Ship-Managers, Ship-Agents, Maritime Training Institutes, Examiners, Marine Workshops, Industrial Workshops, Classification Societies, MMD officers and staff, DGS officers and staff and a large numbers of citizens keen to know more about the maritime industry and administration.

Once fully implemented, Seafarers will be able to apply for examinations and endorsements on-line and will witness a unique automated experience from "application" to "results" to "delivery of Certificate of Competency". Ship Owners, Ship Managers will be able to access MMDs databases through the web for survey and registration applications, eligibilities and document verifications, survey status checks, application status checks, payment of fees, process information and many more facilities. Similarly, services to other customers such as Training Institutes, Classification Societies and citizens will be largely web enabled. Due to electronic workflow processes, the application processing time is cut down significantly and has increased transparency and accountability. Anytime-Anywhere access enables users like ship superintendents to apply and track their application status from any part of the world when traveling. Seafarers will also benefit in making application for examination from any part of the world with internet access.

With centralized database, not only duplication of data will be avoided, all the information will be available on figure tips to the concerned persons. In terms of scope of services this web-based enterprise application will truly be a first for a maritime administration world over.
