| Job Description |

The job offers an opportunity to enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individuals with a flair for communication, accounting and administrative support to work in a large international company on board its fleet of foreign going vessels.
Prospective candidates must be prepared to work on board ships sailing internationally for long periods of time. Duration of one sailing period may last 8 - 12 months.
Candidates will be required to provide administrative assistance to the senior officers on board at the management level. Tasks include making and updating records with respect to Quality Assurance; Operational functioning of the ship; Accounting; Personnel.
Candidates should possess good organisational skills, and should be excellent in verbal and written English. They should also be computer proficient.
Selected male candidates are guaranteed placement on board on successful completion of orientation program. |

| Selection Procedure |

| Initial screening of biodatas and shortlisting. Prospective shortlisted candidates are called for psychometric evaluation. Further shortlisting for final interview with the company on the basis of the tests. |

| Orientation Program |
| |
Prior placement with Shipping Company, selected candidates are required to undergo an orientation program at Applied Research International Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.
The 3 months resident program will include extensive training in basic familiarisation regarding the merchant navy, the shipping industry and functioning and operation of vessels. In addition statutory courses in first aid, safety, survival and firefighting will also be completed. Professional and technical subjects relevant to the job specifications will be covered .The course will also include familiarisation with the company procedures and systems |

| Salary |

| Starting at approx. $500 per month (Rs.23,000 ). The candidate will be entitled to free board and lodging and also travel to and from the ship. |

AA: Introduction to the Merchant Navy & Ships - Marine Vocabulary, Ships terms, Types of Ships, etc.
BB: Commercial Shipping - Commercial Geography to include sea routes, trade patterns, imports, exports, elementary knowledge of maritime law, etc.
CC: Computing - Includes word processing, data base applications, use of e-mail and networks,
knowledge of computer hardware.
DD: Secretarial Practice - Includes knowledge of accounts.
EE: Human Resource Development - Attitudinal training for adapting to ship board environment, developing effective functioning skills with inter departmental seniors and the ability to adapt to change in work priorities due to commercial and operational pressures and understanding the roles and work procedures of senior management level officers.
FF: Ships Visit - Includes Accommodation ,Bridge ,Engine Room and Cargo spaces
GG: Basic Seamanship
HH: Arrival &Departure Port Procedures
II: Elementary Knowledge of Tanker Practice - Types of oils, Hazards, Safety and Pollution.
JJ: STCW Mandatory Courses - EFA, FPFF, PST, PSSR
KK: ISO/ISM (ABS Certified)
LL: GMDSS Familiarisation
MM: Tanker Pacific - Information about the company, its vision, structure, roles of different offices, company procedures, etc.
NN: Training in etiquettes and appropriate social codes of behaviour in an international, intercultural work environment.
OO: Business Communication -
Developing effective English verbal communication skills by audio and video training techniques.
Developing effective written English skills for business communication purposes.
The course will be residential and will be conducted by Applied Research International Pvt. Ltd. at New Delhi |
