| |
Graduate level Mechanical Engineers or equivalent having degree from an AICTE approved institution.(% of marks is Company Specific)
Age : Company Specific
Eye vision : Glasses/contact lenses may be worn but eyesight in each eye separately should not
exceed plus/minus 2.5 No colour blindness.
Healthy Physique, free from any mental or physical disability, which is likely to interfere with the
efficient performance of demanding duties on- board. |

| Short listed candidates (based on the above mentioned criteria) will be called for psychometric assessment and depending on their performance in the test would be further short listed for interview. Selected candidates will be required to pass a medical examination. |

This course meets requirements of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 3 Merchant Vessel Engineering training scheme as per the standards set by Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) U.K. in consultation with Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA) U.K.
On completion of this course, the engine cadet will have acquired the proficiency level required to being his career as a Junior Engineer on-board Merchant Navy ships.
The training structure comprises of 5 Phases:
Phase 1 - Induction: This phase is completed at ARI and imparts the basic skill required at sea and introduction of Marine Engineering, thus preparing the cadet for his first trip at sea. This phase comprises training in:
Introduction to Maritime Industry & ships
Ship construction, Ship stability and Naval Architecture
International Conventions and codes
LSA and FFA
Human Resource Development
Information Technology
General Workshop practice
Internal Combustion Engine
Steam Engineering
Marine Auxiliaries
Marine Electricity
Automation and Controls
Engine Room Design and Resource Management
Phase 2 and Phase 4 - These are the phases for training on-board ships. Cadets need to complete the tasks in the level 3 Merchant Vessel Engineering Portfolio (Total time period approximately 5 months)
Phase 3 and Phase 5 - These phases are completed at South Tyneside College, U.K. Assessment at the college review the portfolio and assess the cadets, following which the cadets then appear for class 4 certificate of competency orals examination with an MCA examiner, who assesses the cadets for the award of Class 4 Certificate of Competency. |
