ISO/ISM INTERNAL AUDITOR'S COURSE

The faculty consists of Mariners and Chief Engineers holding Lead Auditor's Qualification.

Well-illuminated and air conditioned rooms are equipped with the essential teaching aids including white-boards, over-head projector, TV and VCD Player.
 
Course Certificate
 
Candidates successfully completing the course, will be issued a certificate by ARI.
 
Special Features
 
This unique 3 day course, which is a combined ISO 9001:200/ISM familiarization and internal audit course, will help the participant develop a practical approach to the interpretation and application of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and the Quality Management Systems (ISO9001:2000).
 
Through a highly participative combination of presentations, group discussions, case studies plus individual and syndicate exercises, the participants will l learn and understand:
 
  • The content of the ISO 9001/ISM Code and its interpretation.
  • Management systems and the risk management principles that underpin the ISM Code.
  • The principles and practice of auditing.
 
The participants will
 
  • Gain knowledge of the background, objectives and impact of the ISO 9001/ISM Code.
  • Understand the principles of the SO/ISM Code as a management system model.
  • Be able to review and interpret the content of the ISO/ISM Code.
  • Understand the basics of safety management and risk in shipping.
  • Learn how to achieve continual improvement in a management system.
 
In addition the participants will gain knowledge of the key principles and current practices used in internal auditing including:
 
  • The role and responsibilities of the internal auditor
  • Planning and preparation of the audit
  • Audit techniques
  • The conduct of the audit
  • The relationship between the auditor and the interviewee
  • Reporting the audit
  • Non-conformity and its resolution

 
 

Evaluation/Assessment:

A written assessment is conducted at the end of the course.
