This course is open to new entrants/seafarers who intend to serve on-board Chemical Tankers at operational or support level and have completed:
Fire Fighting and Fire prevention course (Basic fire fighting course)
Elementary First Aid course

| At the end of this course, evaluation will be carried out by a written test. The candidates achieving 60% and above will be eligible for certificate as required by STCW 95 - Regulation V/1 (Section A-V/1) |

This course covers detailed teaching syllabus as set out in latest IMO Module and is approved by DG Shipping.
This course includes basic safety awareness and training including familiarization with the following topics:
Development of bulk chemical shipping
Chemical Tanker Terminology
Regulations and Codes of practice
Design and equipment of Chemical Tankers
Properties and hazards of chemical cargoes
Chemical Ship types and arrangements
Cargo equipment and instrumentation
Chemical tanker operations
Safety precautions and measures to avoid pollution
Emergency Operations
On completion of this course, the trainees will be able to serve on Chemical Tankers in the capacity other than Master, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer or Second Engineer, and perform specific duties and shoulder responsibilities related to those duties in connection with cargo and cargo equipment provided that they are not immediately responsible for the loading, discharging, care in transit and handling of cargo.
On successful completion of this course, the candidates will have acquired a better understanding and knowledge of shipboard Chemical Tanker Operations. |
